Sam Wynn died Friday. The cause is unknown to the public, but those of us who knew him can speculate. I wasn't going to post anything here because I wasn't that close to Sam, but in the last few days I've gotten emails about it from people who I know had no contact at all with him. Sam was not a close friend of mine, but we had many mutual friends and were neighbors. Sam often took me to school after my car (an 87 Taurus) finally gave out senior year. In his obituary it states that Sam graduated in 1998, he actually graduated with my class in 1999.

I heard the news right before leaving for the TOOL concert on Saturday and tried not to let it spoil the day because I know Sam would have loved to see TOOL. Sam had some problems, but he was a genuinely nice guy who wouldn't wish harm on anyone. It seems that 2001 has been a bad year for everyone, just a short while ago my uncle died in a highway accident and now more bad news has befallen my family. So, just as MJK said last night, we need to all take the pain from this horrible year and channel it into something positive and productive.

Some of us hoped that the tragic death of B.E. in 1998 would show our friends not to go down a destructive path. It seems that message was lost on many of my classmates. Maybe this loss (even if it came by unrelated causes) will send a stronger message to those who need it.

Tomorrow Aaron will start on the long drive to California. Unfortunetly he will now have to suffer through boring states with no cd player. His cd player was stolen out of his car a month ago behind our apartment building. (two of my cds Aenima and Soulfly were in there too...) I wish him luck going back to the beginning.

I hope to start on the Ugly Boy Productions website today. In a few days...or weeks (depending) you'll be able to purchase some of my music and/or art.

I have a 311 ticket for sale, the best offer gets the ticket...

the venue has been changed to the Nationwide Arena parking lot....but thats just up the street (actually easier to find).

Saw TOOL last night. Best concert ever... They played for two hours (minus a few small intermissions). There were a few surprises which I won't mention because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. If you go see the show and you can't figure out what the tan things on the floor (in the cg animation) in Reflection are....they are human bodies with head, legs, and arms cut off; it took me a few minutes to figure that out. They opened with The Grudge and ended with Lateralus. They played A LOT of songs from the new album. The Grudge, Reflection, The Patient, schism, Lateralus, Disposition, some of the intermissions, and more. If I screw up on any of those its cuz I haven't memorized the names of those songs yet. From other albums were Opiate (yes!!!), Undertow, Pushit (a mixed version of Aenima and Salival), Stinkfist, and 46 and 2. At the end of Reflection Adam played those three notes forever because they had to replace the monitors, but by that time they had most of the sound kinks worked out (as far as the audience's part). Adam Jones came out and screwed around during a Messugah song (which would be the only interesting part of their whole set.....). Unfortunetly I have to say that Nine Inch Nails makes better background...animation/movies, but this show still blew that one out of the water.

This was my second show, but it was the first for the rest of the people I went with. The ozzfest show pales in comparison of course, although there is something to be said for rocking out to aenima (the song) while tons of dirt are in the air and riot copters are circling overhead. I'm speaking of ozzfest 98 at the Polaris.

A good bit into the show Maynard stopped and started to vaguely mention the terrorist actions and people started chanting "USA!! USA!!", which I don't think he liked at all because he said "this is not a political pulpit!" He then went on to tell the audience to take all the hurt and do something positive with it. (which adroit TOOL fans know was part of his message to the audience long before the bombing)

Its Celeste's first day of work at Long's today. Aaron is moving out and we'll finally get everything squared away as far as rooms and ...stuff. Celeste made a tempting chocolate cake last night but I don't know if I should eat it or if its for her aunt that is coming tomorrow...

I saw an idiot review the TOOL show on toolshed. He was complaining about how the band didn't move around on stage. Here are my comments to him:

#1....who did he come to see?-Poison?!

#2....Adam Jones can't move around a lot due to an accident which has left one of his legs slightly crippled permanently

#3....Maynard stayed in front of the projector on purpose, so we could see all the gyrations he does

#4....Justin did move...especially his big head of British hair

#5....Danny moved a hell of a lot, but he obviously isn't going to walk out of the drum cage and mosh with the audience or something.

#6....Do you like TOOL or not...?

I was glad everyone knew Opiate. I was really angry after I went to the Deftones concert and the place was filled with TRL 13 year olds who only knew Pink Maggot/Back to School. Nice that most of the people at this show were real fans (except for the guy I was talking about before). I ran into Kenny and Wagner and of course forgot to tell them I have a website now.

ok, I'm needed to play Kart in the other room.........I'll write more bad grammar and punctuation errors later...go see TOOL!!!!!!!!

Spent a few hours at the impound lot getting Jeremy's car. Then we went to City Center (mall in downtown Columbus). Celeste bought a pair of shoes at contempo casuals to wear to her new job (Long's Bookstore). When we got home we discovered they had sold her a box with two left shoes...that were both different sizes.

B, send me an IM or email telling me what time you are going to be here, cuz Celeste and I are going downtown to return the aformentioned shoes. We are leaving at ten, so we should be back by noon ....I hope.

TOOL was at the Schott today....and I wasn't there.....cuz I've got better tickets to see them in Cleveland tomorrow !!! yeah....haven't seen TOOL since 1998, this is going to be good.

9-14-01

got back into Columbus around 9 last night. For anyone curious....I'm ok. I'm going to see TOOL tomorrow night in Cleveland, they cancelled the Dayton show...so we all had our fingers crossed.

Signed a new lease today, now Jeremy lives here and Aaron is moving to CA. Celeste also lives here too of course. I think Jeremy has a webcam...so maybe I'll update this with little pictures of myself from now on....we'll see. Jeremy had his car towed last night due to street sweeping, they screw you for $80 to get it back. $50 of that goes to the towing company apparently...I think I'm going to buy myself a tow truck....

If anyone wants to buy any comic books or basketball cards (2 shaq rookie cards!) I'll sell them (I'm going broke very fast).

see you in a few days

9-9-001

ok....well never mind about the six flags deal....thought we had free tickets...guess not...

I just found out today that when I get to Cleveland a large amount of Celeste's extended family will be waiting to meet me before they go home (to wherever they are from). I just shaved a lot of my hair off......so I'm not feeling too confident about it. Wish me luck. I'll be there in about nine hours (10:30 am).

I'll be out of communication with the rest of the world for the next four days, so don't hate me if I don't email you back for a week.

Last night a party across the street got broken up by the cops. Four squad cars, one wagon, and five bike cops......just to stop some kids from having some fun on their own property. Don't get me wrong, I don't drink and don't encourage anyone else to do so....but leave the kids alone if they aren't hurting anybody. Brit Kirwin shouldn't have the right to impose martial law on the children of those that pay his salary.

gooday'all

9-8-01

Its halftime in the season opener for the buckeyes, we are up 21-7. I'm getting ready to travel. Turns out I will be in Cleveland with Celeste till Thursday. I have to take a greyhound up there at 8 in the morning, but once we get there we'll go to Six Flags.....so it all works out.

I will be in Cleveland next Saturday as well...but this time to go to a TOOL concert (YES!!!!).

Aunt Lois, if you read this, I couldn't get either of your son's email addresses to work....

B, send me those poems man!!!

nevermind the earlier post about Star Fox 64....I bought it thursday.

I want to give a belated congradulations to my cousin Doug and his bride Heidi, they were married on August 18th. I wish you many happy years together.

Several of the people from my (dad's side of the) family who I sent a link to this site also received an email about the Long family site I'm building. Please note that this site is NOT the Long family site. I'm waiting to receive more information before completing that site. The family reunion is on the 16th and I hope to harvest a lot of information at that time, so the site probably won't be up till mid-October.

If anyone in the Columbus (Ohio) area can give me a good deal on Star Fox 64, I'll buy it...just send me an email

Also, does anyone in the Columbus area have the equipment to convert cassette media to computer, or to cdr? I'm going to make a website for Ugly Boy Records in the next few months and I want to have preview mp3s of some of those songs on my albums (see "bio").

Also, if anyone out there needs a web designer, I'm seeking employment in the feild, I also do contract jobs for private individuals. Just click "contact" and drop me a line.

I may be heading to Cleveland this weekend but I'm not sure yet. B, I'll let you know my plans as soon as possible....if you are still planning on coming up Saturday.

This Saturday in Marietta Ohio is the annual Sternwheeler Festival. It sounds lame, and the boat part kind of is. But they have a "most triumphant" fireworks show. Last year they even had those fireworks that cascade off of a bridge like at the Sidney (Australia) new years (2000) fireworks. So if you are in Ohio and bored this weekend, just head down 77 south to Marietta. The fireworks are Saturday probably around ten pm.

9-2-01

fixed an image pre-loading problem. This might make the homepage slower to load the first time, but after that....everything should load a lot quicker on the rest of the site.

9-2-01

first negative response to this site came in today (wow that was fast....). VVVPATVVV@aol.com wrote me an email at 3a.m.

"gets me nowhere, your site is that of aol homepage's for the cronic chat masturbators, what can you possibly have to do with tool? just don't email me with shit that doesn't have to do that fucking important question i so desperatley inquire.

you should've come up with better in 50 hours maufrais, that page needs eye poppers, and your "photos", well let's just say, give me a reason to visit your page, and not just some " hey i sucked maine's dick to get my name here" website."

.....its 4:30 in the morning....I'm going to bed

The extensive site redesign is finished, although the site still isn't done, there are a lot of rough edges (like the graphics on the "credit" page for example), but I'll fix that at my leisure. This site is designed to be smaller and faster, compared to my old site its like going from a 1950's Mack truck to a Jaguar XJ220 (had to mention my favorite car). The site redesign took a total of five days, about 50 hours. Everything you see on these pages was created by me, Andrew Long (unless otherwise noted). In a few months I'll "hide" links to Byron's poetry in here....so keep a look-out for that.

For those interested, the software I used for this site was: Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, and Dreamweaver. One of the reasons I had to redesign the old site was that the pictures on it were huge and took forever to download. The site was designed with the designer in mind, but not the end user. My philosophy was reversed completely designing this new interface/site, its all for YOU! So after checking it out click on the "contact" button and send me an email with your feedback.

The other reason the site was redesigned is because I am using Roadrunner (a Time Warner company) to host the page. Thus the site has that crappy name, but hey...that saves me a few bucks anyway. I bought an old computer to use as my own server, but RR won't allow me to do that, so I'm forced to fit everything into a tiny 5 MB of space. Because of that, the pictures are much smaller and of lesser quality.

Sorry to everyone I ignored this week, especially Celeste, while I was working feverishly all day and night in my room.

This page will be updated when I feel like it or when I have news to share.
